Want to know how to blog and get paid for it?blog

You’ve come to the right place!

Today I’ll be walking you through the 3 simple steps to earn a PASSIVE income just by blogging.

Are you ready?

Let’s go!

DISCLAIMER: This is not a ‘get-rich-quick’ scheme- you will need to be willing to work hard to achieve these results.

Step 1: Create a blog

This step is a little obvious but it is definitely the most important part!

In order to earn money from blogging, you need a blog. What’s more, you need a GOOD blog.

You’d be surprised how many people think that just by churning out low quality 200 word posts once a week they can become some kind of millionaire!

It doesn’t work like that.

Your blog needs to be the BEST you can make it if you want the BEST results. Make sense?

So, how do you create a good blog?

You need a website. There are plenty of places out there that you can set up a website for free.

Wix is a really popular website builder right now (you’ve probably seen a few of their ads floating around) and that’s for good reason- you can create a great looking site with them.

But if you want to use Wix to its full potential, it is going to end up costing you.

So I would personally recommend the SiteRubix platform! You get TWO websites for free, that can be made in under 30 seconds each.

To access SiteRubix you’ll need to create an account over at Wealthy Affiliate; an online community of bloggers. Once you do (it’s free) you get access to your 2 sites as well as instruction on how to set them up.

Also, you also get a 10 lesson course in setting up your blog to maximize results down the line. No ‘free trial’ or card details required, just some great websites and great training for free.

Of course, if this sounds like WAY too much effort for you (which it isn’t) you could always just use the classic: blogger.

Blogger is great for blogging, but that’s about it.

Sure, you might only want to blog right now, but later on you’ll be looking at how to generate some income through said blog, and if your blog is hosted on Blogger that is going to be tough.

For an absolute beginner not interesting in making money, Blogger is ideal though!

But for anyone else, I would definitely recommend SiteRubix.

So, you have an initial site set up. Now what?

Now you blog. Yep, simple as that. There’s no cheat method, or any other way to trick the system.

You just have to dive right into it and get blogging.

What do you blog about?

Anything you want! For me, I’m a magician, so I like to write reviews of magic tricks and guides for beginner magicians. But for you, it could be something completely different.

The important thing is that all of your blogs are centered around that one topic you decide on. For example, if you choose to blog about cats, don’t post an article about golf clubs!golf

No really, people do make mistakes like that. The reason you want to keep all your posts centered around one topic is because it helps Google understand what your site is about, which in turn means you get shown a bit more love in the search engines!

And getting some love in the search engines means one thing and one thing only, which incidentally happens to also be Step 2 of making money from your blog…

…Step 2: Generate TRAFFIC

No, not the traffic that slows you down on the motorway.

Traffic basically just means visitors to your website. So if 20 people Google ‘funny cat pictures’ and click on your site as a result, your traffic would be 20.

Make sense?

The reason traffic is so important is because- more traffic = more money down the line.

traffic

The more visitors you have on your site, the more you get paid for ads and other monetization schemes (which we will get onto later!)

So how do you increase your traffic if its low? And how do you start getting traffic if you have none?

The answer is in the title of this post.

BLOG.

Consistently blogging is the best way to guarantee traffic. The more posts you create, the more chance a visitor is going to stumble across it in the search engines.

And the more blog posts you create, the more authority and credibility Google gives your site. It knows you’re not just an empty site, and recognizes that your posts deserve to be seen!google

As a result, it pushes you up in the Google rankings and you get more traffic!

Of course, there are other techniques to gaining more traffic. Some cost, others don’t.

One brilliant (FREE) method is to set up a strong social following. I’m talking Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube…you name it. The more authority you have on those social networks, the more traffic you are going to be receiving to your site.

Instagram is HUGE right now, and is tipped to surpass Facebook as the largest social media so it is really important that you get started in Instagram now so you’re ahead of the competition for later.

Facebook is still absolutely a necessity for your traffic; it’s really easy to set up a page, so why wouldn’t you? You can invite friends to like it and if you want to, pay for your posts to be promoted to Facebook users!

Twitter has been consistently useful, and with the new lengths allowed in your posts you have more room to advertise your blog in your tweets.

social-media

Another great social network is actually Pinterest; you can save images from your site onto Pinterest, meaning that if someone comes across it they may well click through to your site. You can also save images RELATED to your blog and simply add your blog to the description.

If you use all four of these in combination, I can assure you that you will see A LOT more traffic coming your way.

So, to recap:

Get a big following on social medias and use this to increase traffic to your blog.

Blog consistently so you get more and more clicks from search engines like Google and Bing.

Okay, so you’re getting the traffic. Now how do you make money from it?

It’s actually quite simple…

Step 3: Monetize your traffic

I’m going to outline 2 of the most common ways people make money blogging (but that doesn’t mean that these are the ONLY two ways!

Method 1: Get paid to run ads

This is probably the easiest way of making money. Simply sign up to an ad network (there are loads out there). Some of the better ones include- media.net, Google Adsense, and Infolinks.

You should be able to set up an account pretty easily, and once you do it’s simply a matter of getting your site approved (which should only take a day or so).

Once you’re approved, you can start placing ads on your site (the ad network will talk you through it)- you’re usually allowed a maximum of 3 ads at a time.

Don’t expect to be earnings thousands from this straightaway, but with consistent blogging and traffic you can 100% make a profit simply through using ads.

Method 2: Affiliate marketing

This method is a little more complicated, but is definitely within EVERY blogger’s reach.

This mode of earning involves 3 people.

You, the blogger (acting as the AFFILIATE)

Your traffic, (the consumers)

And a merchant.

The merchant could be anyone- let’s use Amazon for this example.

So, imagine you’d just blogged about the best cat litters on the internet. You’re getting tons of visitors to it- it’s a hot post and people are reading it.

You would go to Amazon and find the cat litters you were talking about, and then place a link to them inside your post.

If someone clicked through your link and onto Amazon to buy the cat litter…you get some of the money. That doesn’t mean the customer pays EXTRA, it just means Amazon gives you a commission as a little ‘thank you’ for referring a paying consumer to them.

Make sense?

Don’t worry if you still are unsure, just click here for my full breakdown of how exactly affiliate marketing works and why you’re throwing away money if you’re not doing it!

One thing I would recommend is that you don’t start using affiliate marketing until you have in the region of 30-40 posts.

Why?

Two reasons.

Firstly, if you have under 30 posts you’re probably not getting enough traffic for affiliate marketing to work properly. Basically, chances are that not many (or even none) of your visitors are going to click through your link and buy something, simply because you have so few visitors.

Once you get more traffic, it’s more likely that some of those visitors are going to go on and buy something.

Secondly, Google doesn’t like it if you post lots of affiliate links as a new-ish site. It makes you look like you only care about getting money, and that your blog doesn’t offer anything of REAL value.

Now we both know that this isn’t true- but Google doesn’t, so it’s better to be safe than sorry and avoid placing affiliate links until you’ve built yourself up in Google’s eyes and have enough trust built to do so.

So, in conclusion:

First, create a blog and get some good content on there. Try to aim to write at least 1500 words per post (I know- it seems like a lot, but you’ll be surprised how much you can write when you put your mind to it!) and keep on doing this at least 2 or 3 times a week.

blog

Second, build up your social following and continue posting regularly in order to generate and maintain your traffic!

Third, either start placing ads to earn revenue or start affiliate marketing with products relevant to your blog to get commissions!

It really is as simple a process as that!

If you are still unsure about what it takes, then I would definitely recommend creating an account at Wealthy Affiliate to get 24/7 support from the biggest blogging community out there!
